Trader Vic's

Online Auction Alert!!!!!!

Many Trader Vic’s items have made their way to the internet. The purpose of this alert is to warn buyers that things are often not what they seem. Unfortunately, we have learned this the hard way. Items we’ve acquired from the internet in the past have turned out to be terrible imitations.

We at Trader Vic’s are all firm believers of online shopping and we are in no way trying to stop people from looking to the internet for collectibles, but we want our fans to bid on items labeled "Trader Vic’s" with intense scrutiny. Do not fall for key words such as "vintage" or "original" like we have in the past. Ask questions! A seller using catchy headlines should be able to substantiate their claims. Look for wear too. The items that actually are "vintage" are going to be nearly half a century old and they will have been used. This means that buyers should also be wary of items labeled "new old stock." Although these items do exist, it is not hard for sellers to pass off mock ups as "new old stock" and charge a premium for them.

Your help in keeping the Trader Vic’s name genuine and discouraging entrepreneurs from capitalizing on a richly celebrated and beloved past is greatly appreciated. We are constantly monitoring the web for phony merchandise to help ensure that our admirers aren’t cheated and we encourage everyone to do the same.

Sincerely,

Trader Vic’s
